What's it like to be an intrepid explorer....and a woman?
I am on an expedition to re-create the 1926 route, first explored by Don and Phyllis Munday to Mount Waddington; the highest peak of British Columbia’s Coast Mountains. Outfitted with vintage hobnail boots, fifty-pound wood-frame packs, and only antique ice axes for safety, I hadn't realized I'd be faced with the larger-than-life legacy of Phyllis.
On top of that, I wonder if I can endure the hordes of mosquitoes, the grizzly bears, the thickets of devil’s club, and the other dangers on the List of Doom? Uncertainty and fear threaten to take over. Can I be as fearless and as tough as Phyllis.

“I'm sharing my experience of this ridiculously backbreaking expedition in the hopes of inspiring readers to think differently about their own mountain.” - Susanna
This tale provides an alternative to typical mountaineering and adventure themes of conquest and connects us to Canadian history and the voices of women.
